Jamaica’s Montego Bay is rich with white sugar sand beaches, soft summer sunlight, and the brightest blues and greens you’ve ever seen, giving the whole city a unique kind of magic. Resting on the northern coast of the island as part of the St. James Parish, it’s the second-largest city in the country, after Kingston. This makes it the perfect blend of urban opportunity without being too crowded.
For our Dream Destination Conference in 2020, we’ll be staying in the Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall resort, a beautiful hotel with plenty of beach access and unlimited food and drinks at your fingertips. This five-star resort has everything from swim-up suites to oceanside firepits. Here’s a little taste of what’s in store for you at DDC20 Montego Bay.
A Day in the Life of Paradise
Imagine waking up in your spacious swim-up suite to the soft whites of the Jamaican sun reflecting off the sand. It’s time to start your day; put on your bathrobe and slippers—courtesy of the hotel—and order a poolside omelet breakfast from 24-hour in-suite dining.
From there, you can head to your morning workout at the Hyatt’s fitness center. Whether it’s beachfront yoga, aqua aerobics, or a water spinning class, you’ll be able to work up a sweat while staying within arm’s reach of the cool water.
Choose Your Adventure with Daily Activities
After cooling off from your workout with a dip in the ocean, it’s time to choose one of the many daily activities offered by the resort.
Maybe you want to get out into the Caribbean to feel like you’re sailing the seven seas. The resort offers kayaks, catamarans, and boogie boards for all those looking for their own ocean vessel. There are snorkels if you like to be awestruck by underwater life, or plenty of places to go for a swim or just lounge on the beach.
If you’d rather have a freshwater experience, you can either burn some calories in the activities pool or relax in the hotel’s infinity pool and spa. There’s also a quiet oasis that’s perfect for cooling off and taking a break from the Jamaica sun. Go there, grab a book, and relax like you never have before.
Later in the afternoon, attend a chef-led cooking demonstration or stop in for a dancing lesson. There are games for the whole family like bingo, shuffleboard, beach volleyball, and pool basketball. The hotel’s KidZ Club offers a place where the youngsters can play their own beach sports, do arts and crafts, attend PJ and disco parties, or hang out in the Teens Club—chock full of things to do like foosball, air hockey, and video games.
Find Your Feast and Eat Your Fill
As the sun goes down, choose from one of the resort’s seven restaurants to sit for an unlimited dining experience. Whether on the beach or by the pool, take your pick from Italian food, Asian fare, or plenty of other cuisines with no reservations required.
Check out the Blue Grill at CalypZo if you like fresh seafood and marinated shrimp or are looking to sip sparkling wine and vodka cocktails next to an azure ice carving at the restaurant’s Blue Ice Bar.
If you’d like some local flavors, stop by Barefoot JerkZ, the beachfront jerk shack that serves chicken wings right off the beach. Eat picnic-style in swinging chairs and grass cabanas, complete with ice bucket beverage service.
There’s also the FuZion Asian grill, where your dinner is prepared right at your table on a hibachi-style grill for everyone to see. Feast on summer rolls, beef pad Thai, or sweet and sour duck, and wash it down with a selection of Asian beers or sake cocktails.
After dinner, go see a number of live entertainment options from international artists in dance, music, and theater. Your options include Jamaican street music, stunning acrobatics, or Caribbean steel drum groups, among many others. If you still have energy, stop by Union Jack’Z Pub, where a live DJ throws a dance party until 2 a.m.
